Introduction of cam disk
Structural Characteristics
Shape structure: usually disk-shaped, its circumferential surface is distributed with a number of cams. The shape, size and distribution of these cams vary according to the working requirements and design features of the diesel pump.
Internal structure: It may contain some mounting holes, positioning grooves and other structures, which are used to connect and position with other parts of the diesel pump to ensure its accuracy and stability in the working process. Some cam disks may also have integrated lubrication channels or sealing structures, etc. to meet lubrication and sealing requirements.
Principle of operation
Diesel pump head cam disks work in conjunction with components such as roller bodies or plungers. When the cam disk rotates under the drive mechanism, the cam lifting on the cam disk periodically pushes the roller body or plunger and other parts to do reciprocating motion. In the rising stage of the cam, the plunger is pushed to overcome the spring force and other resistance to move upward, realizing the compression and delivery of diesel fuel; in the falling stage of the cam, the plunger is reset downward under the action of the spring force and so on, ready to carry out the next oil suction and compression process. The continuous rotation of the cam disk makes the plunger reciprocate continuously, thus realizing the continuous oil supply function of the diesel pump.
Role
Provide power transmission: Convert the rotary motion of the engine into the reciprocating motion of the plunger and other components, provide a power source for the pressurization and delivery of diesel fuel, and ensure that the diesel fuel can be delivered to the injector according to a certain law and pressure.
Controlling fuel supply timing: the phase and shape of the cam on the cam plate determines the timing and speed of the plunger's movement, thus accurately controlling the moment and duration of the diesel pump's fuel supply to ensure that the fuel is injected at the correct moment in the engine's combustion chamber, which is crucial to the engine's performance and combustion efficiency.
Adjustment of fuel supply: By changing the rotation angle of the cam disk or the profile curve of the cam, etc., the effective stroke of the plunger can be adjusted, thus controlling the amount of diesel fuel supplied in each cycle to meet the fuel demand of the engine under different working conditions.
Common Failures
Cam Wear: After long term use, the cam surface will wear due to friction with the roller body and other components, resulting in deformation of the cam profile. This can cause the plunger's movement pattern to change, affecting fuel supply timing and volume, which may lead to engine starting difficulties, lack of power, increased fuel consumption and other problems.
Cracked or broken cam disk: Due to large alternating loads and stresses, the cam disk may be cracked or even broken. This will prevent the diesel pump from working properly, resulting in serious failures such as engine stalling or failure to start.
Loose installation: The mounting bolts or keys between the cam disk and the shaft or other connecting parts may loosen, causing the position of the cam disk to shift, affecting the timing and stability of the oil supply and causing the engine to work abnormally, shake and other phenomena.
Maintenance
Regular Inspection: Regularly check the surface condition of the cam disk for wear, cracks, deformation and other defects, and also check whether the mounting parts are loose. It is recommended that a thorough inspection be performed every certain mileage or after a certain period of operation.
Keep clean: Ensure that the cam disc and its surroundings are clean to prevent dust, impurities, etc. from entering the cam and roller body and other mating parts, so as not to aggravate wear. When carrying out repairs and maintenance, clean and wipe the relevant parts.
Correct installation: When installing the cam disk, it is necessary to strictly follow the operating procedures to ensure that the installation position is accurate and the tightening torque of the installation bolts meets the requirements. Use suitable tools and gauges for installation and adjustment to avoid failures caused by improper installation.
Reasonable use of lubricating oil: Choose suitable lubricating oil and replace it regularly to ensure good lubrication between the cam disc and related parts and reduce friction and wear. At the same time, pay attention to check the quality and oil level of the lubricant to ensure that it is within the normal range.
