Analysis of the effect of clearance ratio on the bearing characteristics of fuel pump sliding bearings
As a key friction part of the fuel gear pump, the bearing characteristics have an important impact on the working performance, reliability and life of the fuel pump. Fuel pump conveying medium for low viscosity fuel, in the high load and high speed conditions, the minimum oil film thickness of the sliding bearing is very thin, basically the same order of magnitude with the surface roughness of the parts, easy to wear and tear and thus lead to the failure of the fuel pump sliding bearing. In the lubricating medium viscosity and load a certain situation, sliding bearing clearance ratio (refers to the direction of the sliding bearing and shaft diameter clearance and shaft diameter ratio) is the main influence factor of the minimum film thickness, which in turn affects the bearing capacity.
Therefore, in order to solve the problem that the sliding bearings of fuel gear pumps are prone to wear due to the thin oil film thickness, which leads to the failure of the sliding bearings under the high load and high speed conditions, and in view of the fact that the clearance ratio is the main influencing factor of the minimum oil film thickness of the sliding bearings, the sliding bearings of a certain type of fuel pumps are taken as a research object to be studied and analysed by PumpLinx simulation to determine the minimum oil film thickness of bearings, the load carrying capacity, the pressure and the temperature distribution of the bearings with different clearance ratios. The minimum oil film thickness, load capacity, pressure and temperature distribution of bearings with different clearance ratios are analysed by PumpLinx simulation. Flexural deformation of a gear shaft of a certain fuel pump is analysed, and then the relationship between the sliding bearing clearance ratio and the minimum oil film thickness, load capacity, bearing temperature and the distribution of circumferential and radial pressures are analysed under two working conditions, i.e., the minimum speed and the maximum speed of the pump, respectively. The results show that: at the same fit clearance ratio, the sliding bearing capacity increases when the oil film thickness decreases; when the clearance ratio decreases, the bearing capacity increases; when the speed increases, the bearing capacity increases; in terms of both the pressure distribution and the temperature rise, the best situation is found when the fit clearance ratio of the gear shaft and the sliding bearing is the smallest.
