    Causes of fuel injector failure

    Injector failure has a significant impact on engine performance. Common failures and their causes are as follows:

    1. Poor atomization of the fuel injector: When the injection pressure is insufficient, the nozzle holes are worn, or the spring elasticity decreases, it will cause the fuel injector to open early and close late, resulting in poor atomization. At this time, the power of the diesel engine decreased, black smoke was emitted from the exhaust, and the operating sound was abnormal. Diesel mist droplets that are too large cannot be fully burned and will flow into the oil pan, diluting the engine oil, deteriorating lubrication, and even causing serious failures such as burning of the cylinder.

    2. Needle valve stuck: Moisture and acidic substances in diesel may cause the needle valve to become corroded and stuck. When the sealing cone surface of the needle valve is damaged, combustible gas will escape into the mating surface and form carbon deposits, which will also cause the needle valve to become stuck, causing the injector to fail, the cylinder to stop working, and the engine power to decrease, shake, or even fail to start.

    3. Oil dripping from the fuel injector: The sealing cone surface of the needle valve body will gradually wear under frequent impact and high-pressure fuel injection, resulting in oil dripping from the fuel injector. At this time, it is difficult for the diesel engine to start, the exhaust pipe emits white smoke and turns black, and the fuel consumption increases. It is necessary to check the flexibility of the needle valve and the wear of the cone surface, and replace the new injector assembly if necessary.

    4. The oil return volume is too high: When the needle valve coupling is severely worn, the needle valve body and the injector housing are not tightly matched, or the valve plate is worn, the oil return volume will be too high. This will reduce injection pressure, delay injection time, reduce engine power, and even cause the diesel engine to stall.
