Reasons for insufficient fuel supply to diesel plunger

Insufficient fuel supply to the diesel plunger will affect the performance of the engine, leading to problems such as reduced power and difficulty in starting. The reasons mainly involve failures of the plunger itself, the fuel system and other related components, as follows:

    Diesel plunger component problems
Plunger wear: After long-term use, the plunger and the plunger sleeve will wear due to friction, causing the matching clearance to increase. In this way, during the plunger pressurization process, fuel will leak from the gap, resulting in a reduction in the actual fuel supply.
Plunger stuck: If there are impurities, moisture or colloid in the diesel, the plunger may not move smoothly in the plunger sleeve, causing a stuck phenomenon, and the oil suction and oil pressure actions cannot be completed normally, resulting in insufficient fuel supply.
Plunger spring failure: The function of the plunger spring is to enable the plunger to reset in time after completing the oil pressure action. If the spring elastic force is weakened or broken, the plunger cannot be reset in time, which will affect the oil suction process and cause insufficient fuel supply.

    Fuel system problems
Fuel filter blockage: The function of the fuel filter is to filter impurities and moisture in the fuel. When the filter is clogged, the resistance to fuel flow increases, and the amount of fuel entering the injection pump decreases, resulting in insufficient fuel supply to the diesel plunger.
Fuel pipe blockage or leakage: The inside of the oil pipe may be blocked due to dirt and impurities, or the oil pipe may be broken or poorly sealed, causing fuel leakage. This will reduce the amount of fuel reaching the diesel plunger and affect the fuel supply.
Fuel delivery pump failure: The fuel delivery pump is responsible for delivering fuel from the fuel tank to the injection pump. If the fuel delivery pump does not work properly, such as insufficient pumping oil pressure, insufficient pumping oil volume, etc., it will cause insufficient fuel intake to the injection pump, resulting in insufficient fuel supply to the diesel plunger.

    Other related component problems
Fuel outlet valve failure: The function of the oil outlet valve is to prevent fuel backflow when the plunger stops supplying oil. If the oil outlet valve is not sealed tightly or stuck, the fuel will flow back after the plunger stops supplying oil, reducing the actual fuel supply at the next fuel supply.
Incorrect injection advance angle: If the injection advance angle is too large or too small, the fuel injection time will not match the engine's working cycle. This will cause the fuel to not burn fully in the combustion chamber, which looks like insufficient fuel supply, and will also affect the power and economy of the engine.
Governor failure: The function of the governor is to automatically adjust the fuel supply according to the load and speed of the engine. When the governor fails, such as abnormal spring force of the governor, flying hammer stuck, etc., the governor may adjust the fuel supply incorrectly, resulting in insufficient fuel supply to the diesel plunger.
