The car engine fault light is on, does it have anything to do with the injector?

Reasons why the fault light is on due to injector failure

Blocked injector nozzle: After long-term use, the injector nozzle may be blocked by impurities, colloid or carbon deposits in the fuel. This will cause uneven fuel injection and poor atomization, causing the engine to shake, poor acceleration, and reduced power. When these problems reach a certain level, the engine control unit (ECU) will detect abnormalities in the relevant sensor signals, thereby triggering the fault light to light up. For example, if the injector nozzles of some cylinders are blocked, the combustion of the cylinder is incomplete, and the power generated is insufficient, which will cause the overall operation of the engine to be unbalanced. The ECU detects abnormalities by monitoring signals such as the crankshaft position sensor, determines that the engine is in poor working condition, and lights up the fault light.

Injector leakage: Aging or damage to the injector seal may cause fuel leakage. If the injector still drips fuel when it is not spraying fuel, the mixture will be too rich, causing black smoke from the engine, increased fuel consumption, unstable idle speed, and other faults. The ECU detects abnormal oxygen content in the exhaust through the oxygen sensor, determines that the mixture concentration is imbalanced, and then triggers the fault light. In addition, severe fuel leakage may also cause abnormal fuel system pressure, which will also be detected by the ECU and trigger a fault alarm.

Fuel injector circuit failure: The operation of the fuel injector is controlled by the ECU, and its circuit includes power lines, control lines, etc. If the circuit is broken, short-circuited, or has poor contact, the fuel injector will not work properly or work abnormally. For example, a circuit break will prevent the fuel injector from receiving a working signal and from injecting fuel, causing the corresponding cylinder to not work and the engine to shake severely. After the ECU detects the fault, it will light up the fault light.

Other reasons for the fault light to light up
Sensor failure: If the air flow sensor, throttle position sensor, water temperature sensor, oxygen sensor, etc. fail, it will transmit an error signal to the ECU, causing the ECU to misjudge the engine working condition, causing the fault light to light up. For example, if the air flow sensor fails, the ECU will not be able to accurately know the intake volume, and thus cannot accurately control the injection volume. Even if the fuel injector works normally, it will cause a failure due to the mismatch between the injection volume and the intake volume.

Spark plug problem: If the spark plug ignites poorly or does not ignite, the combustible mixture will not burn normally in the cylinder, causing the engine power to drop, shake, or even fail to start. After the ECU detects related abnormalities, it may also trigger the fault light.

Intake system failure: Intake system problems such as air leakage in the intake pipe, throttle failure, and carbon deposits on the intake valve will affect the intake volume and quality of the engine, causing the mixture ratio to be unbalanced, resulting in abnormal engine operation and the fault light coming on.

When the engine fault light comes on, you need to use a professional fault diagnosis instrument to read the fault code to accurately determine the cause of the fault. You cannot simply think that it is a problem with the injector. You need to comprehensively investigate and repair multiple factors.
