What are the common faults of pressure valves?

    Abnormal pressure regulation
    Pressure cannot be increased
Reason: The pressure regulating spring may be broken or too soft, unable to provide sufficient elastic force to push the valve core, so that the pressure cannot be increased; or the valve core may be stuck in the open position, and the oil or gas continues to flow back through the valve core, resulting in the inability to establish system pressure; in addition, the pilot valve failure of the pilot pressure valve, such as the pilot valve blockage, the pilot valve spring failure, etc., will also affect the action of the main valve core, resulting in the inability to increase pressure.

Example: In a hydraulic system, if the pressure regulating spring of the relief valve is broken, when the system needs to increase the pressure, the relief valve cannot be closed normally, the oil will continue to flow back to the tank, and the system pressure cannot be increased.

Pressure is too high and cannot be adjusted
Reason: The valve core may be stuck in the closed position, and the valve core cannot be opened for pressure relief regardless of how the system pressure changes; or the pressure regulating mechanism is damaged, such as the adjustment nut cannot be turned, the adjustment screw is damaged, etc., resulting in the inability to adjust the spring pressure to change the opening pressure of the valve core.

Example: In a pneumatic system, if the valve core of the pressure reducing valve cannot move due to impurities, even if the knob is adjusted to reduce pressure, the pressure reducing valve cannot work properly, and the system pressure will remain at a high level and cannot be reduced.

    Unstable pressure fluctuation
Reason: Air mixed in the oil or gas will make the pressure transmission unstable, resulting in pressure fluctuations; the valve core and the valve seat are not well matched, there is leakage or stagnation, which will cause the valve core to jump frequently during operation, causing pressure fluctuations; in addition, frequent or drastic changes in system load will also cause the pressure valve to be constantly adjusted, resulting in pressure fluctuations.

Example: In a fuel system, if the valve core of the fuel pressure regulator is severely worn and there is a gap between it and the valve seat, the fuel pressure will fluctuate, affecting the normal injection of the injector and causing unstable engine operation.

    Leakage problem
    Internal leakage
Reason: The matching gap between the valve core and the valve hole is too large, which will cause oil or gas to leak between the valve core and the valve hole, reducing the control accuracy and efficiency of the pressure valve; the valve core or valve seat is worn, the sealing surface is uneven or has scratches, cracks, etc., which will also cause internal leakage.

Example: In the sequence valve of the hydraulic system, if the valve core and the valve hole are worn, when the sequence valve is closed, the oil will leak from the wear gap to the oil return chamber, affecting the control of the sequence valve on the action sequence of the actuator.

    External leakage
Reason: The seal of the pressure valve is aged, damaged or improperly installed, such as the deformation and damage of the sealing ring, the uneven installation of the sealing gasket, etc., which will cause oil or gas to leak from the joint surface of the valve, pipe joints and other parts to the outside; the valve body has casting defects, such as sand holes, air holes, etc., which will also cause external leakage.

Example: In the pneumatic system, the sealing ring at the pipe joint of the pressure reducing valve is aged. When the system is running, compressed air will leak out from the pipe joint, which will not only cause energy waste, but also may affect the normal pressure of the system.

    Insensitive action
    Slow response
Reason: The valve core is worn and deformed due to long-term use, or is contaminated by impurities, colloids, etc. in the oil, resulting in increased movement resistance of the valve core in the valve hole and slow action; spring fatigue deformation and weakened elasticity will also slow down the response speed of the valve core.

Example: In a hydraulic relief valve, if there is dirt on the surface of the valve core, when the system pressure reaches the set pressure of the relief valve, the valve core cannot open in time to overflow, which will cause the system pressure to rise instantly, which may cause impact on the system components.

    No action
Reason: The valve core is completely stuck in the valve hole, which may be caused by the valve core and the valve hole being too tight, the oil being seriously contaminated, and the impurities blocking the valve core; the control circuit or gas line is faulty. For electromagnetically controlled pressure valves, if the electromagnetic coil is burned, the line is broken or short-circuited, etc., the valve core will not receive the control signal and will not act.

Example: In an electromagnetic pressure reducing valve, if the electromagnetic coil is burned due to long-term overload, even if the system needs to adjust the pressure, the pressure reducing valve will not act and cannot adjust the pressure.
